Buffalo Technology fortsetter nå sin satsing på den raskere USB 3.0-standarden gjennom to nye eksterne harddisker. MiniStation 3.0 er en liten og lett harddisk som passer til brukere som vil ha muligheten til å lagre mye i bukselommen. Modellen leveres med enten 500 GB eller 1 TB, og fås i både svart og hvitt.
DriveStation 3.0 er en større modell som først og fremst er tilpasset skrivebordet, og som dermed også har mer lagringsplass – den leveres med enten 1 TB, 2 TB eller 3 TB. Den raske USB 3.0-standarden gir en overføringshastighet på opptil 5 Gbit i sekundet, noe som er atskillig mer enn forgjengeren USB 2.0. Enhetene er dessuten selvsagt fullt bakoverkompatible, slik at de også kan brukes sammen med PC-er som ikke har USB 3.0-utganger.
Samtidig lanserer Buffalo to tilsvarende modeller med nøyaktig samme design, men med USB 2.0 i stedet for USB 3.0. MiniStation 2.0 leveres med enten 320 GB, 500 GB eller 1 TB, mens DriveStation 2.0 fås med en kapasitet på enten 1 TB eller 2 TB. Overføringshastigheten ved USB 2.0 ligger på maksimalt 480 Mbps.
Alle USB 3.0-modellene leveres med programvare for automatisk backup av PC-en, og Mac-brukere kan glede seg over full støtte for Apple Time Machine®.
Hvis PC-en din ikke har en USB 3.0-port produserer Buffalo også to ulike ekstrakort som fungerer med både stasjonære og bærbare PC-er.
