Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage and wireless networking solutions, today announces the decision to withdraw from the memory market within Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), from the 31st March 2011.
During the past years, Buffalo Technology has continued its investments in the memory division and substantial efforts have been made to sustain the business. Unfortunately in the current economic climate, and with continued competitive pressures, Buffalo Technology has decided that it can no longer continue with its memory business within EMEA. The Memory divisions in other regions, namely Japan and Asia Pacific remain unaffected by this decision.
"This difficult, but sadly unavoidable step was taken after a comprehensive review of the long term viability of the business. We considered all possible alternatives and took into account the interests of all stakeholders, especially our loyal customers. However, in the current market, Buffalo cannot justify the continuation of the memory business within EMEA." explains Dave Gibson, EMEA Sales and Marketing Director, Memory.
In line with this strategic decision, Buffalo will continue to focus all other available resources on the continued growth of its storage and wireless networking solutions.
Yasutoshi Yokoyama, Managing Director of Buffalo Technology, EMEA, added "Our storage and networking businesses have seen continued growth over the past few years, and our energies will be focused on continuing to drive market leadership within Network Attached Storage (NAS), design innovation, along with the future growth and development of the existing and emerging markets".
Any questions regarding this matter can be directed to the attention of Dave Gibson, EMEA Sales & Marketing Director, Memory Buffalo Technology.
