06 February 2009 - Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage, multi-media, wired and wireless networking and memory solutions, today launches the LinkStation Mini SSD, the world’s first Network Attached Storage (NAS) Solid State Drive (SSD) device for consumers.

Paul Hudson, Northern European Sales Director, Buffalo Technology, commented: “This product is the first of many stages in the development of consumer NAS.  As broadband speeds continue to increase and high definition become more prevalent, consumers are downloading more music and movies than ever. As a consequence, people are demanding storage that is extremely reliable, very quiet, has low power needs and does not require a huge amount of physical space.”

Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and quiet enough to keep in your lounge, the LinkStation Mini SSD (LS-WSS240GL/R1) allows users to store, share and enjoy digital content from anywhere on their home network.  Ideal for early adopters of technology who download music and movies, its fan-less, motor-less chassis, low power consumption and small form factor means that NAS can become a reality in the home.  The LinkStation Mini SSD has no internal moving parts making it more reliable and quieter than other NAS devices on the market.

The LinkStation Mini SSD comes with a capacity of 240GB and a built-in DNLA media server that allows users to seamlessly stream movies to a PC, Mac, multi-media device or DNLA supported televisions. It also has built in WebAccess™ providing users with a way of accessing all their music, movies and other files via the Internet from their PC, Mac or iPhone, from anywhere in the world when they are on the move.
